NovaLashes last through desert Maraton
At the start of this year's Kiehl's Badwater Ultramarathon, 85 extreme athletes from around the world gathered to challenge the environment and themselves. It is the most difficult footrace in the world. Runners battle grueling heat, humidity, rain, and wind, pushing themselves for 135 miles across Death Valley. They will race across three mountain ranges with a total ascent and descent of 17,400 feet, which is like a flight of stairs three miles high.
Many of these elite athletes are sponsored by major footwear, clothing, and endurance products. But one runner, Chrissy Weiss, stood alone as being sponsored by a beauty product, NovaLash, the leader in eyelash extensions.
Chrissy (Xy) hoped to prove that strong is beautiful by running the entire 135 miles fashioned with NovaLash eyelash extensions, applied with Platinum Bond, the strongest pharmaceutical grade adhesive on the market. So between the arduous tasks of daily running, sauna and heat conditioning, weight lifting, and sleep deprivation training, Xy visited Courtney at Kate Somerville Salon in Los Angeles for her eyelash extension application.
Courtney, one of NovaLash's premier expert extensionists, immediately recognized the additional challenge as Xy had baby fine lashes to begin with. Adhering the lashes would be one thing, but ensuring they would be able to remain secured to such a fine lash would be something else. So after an hour of carefully applying the individual lashes with the Platinum Bond, the test was ready to begin.
Xy arrived in Death Valley 4 days after the application, giving the adhesive plenty of time to cure. After 2 days of climatization, no lashes had been lost. Xy applied a thin coat of Lancome mascara on Sunday at the pre-race meeting and again, no lashes were lost.
On race day (Monday), Xy again applied a thin coat of Lancome mascara, a slathering of Kiehl's sunscreen, pulled on her pink leopard running skirt, race shirt and running shoes, and drove off the start line at Badwater. Many runners and observers were very interested in the product testing she was about to endure.
During the race, temperatures reached 124 degrees, and humidity hung at 20%. Xy's crew kept her core temperature down by dumping ice on her head, spraying her face, and wrapping her neck with an ice sleeve. Cars on the road did not slow for the runners and often kicked up wind, dirt, and dust. The desert wind also blasted sand in her direction. 115 miles into the race, a fierce thunderstorm pelted Xy with egg-sized drops of water for close to an hour. And near the finish, 41 hours later, tears of joy also washed over her lashes. Xy and her NovaLash extensions had successfully completed the world's toughest footrace. Xy was the 6th woman and 24th finisher out of 85 starters. She was also the only finisher in a pink leopard skirt and long NovaLash extensions!
"I was concerned that the extreme heat might affect the adhesive, causing it to melt into my eyes or stick my eyelids closed. More importantly, I was concerned that the lashes might wilt off and I'd be finishing the race with a mustache! Thankfully, neither happened"

I now understand what I'm doing
"I am so happy we got a chance to talk about my dilemma with the terrible adhesive from the other company. Not only was it of poor quality, but also it dried up quickly and then I was left with nothing to work with! I had my bottle sealed properly, but I found it turned hard as a rock in a very short period of time.
I knew I would never do business with that other company again because when I tried to reach them by phone to get new adhesive, they never returned my call. I spent so much money on the training, kit, and extra products, and I am in shock because I don't feel they professionally trained me.
I have been so pleased to take your class. The instructor was so good, explained everything so clearly. I now understand what I'm doing. The other class I had taken didn't understand what was going on. The products were of poor quality. Thank you for such a great class.
